Eye For Color

Françoise Nielly grew up in the South of France with an architect father. Her eye for color is so unique I instantly fell in love with her style. In my own sketches, I find that eyes are very important. If the subjects eyes apear dead and lifeless, the artwork can often seem pointless to me. Nielly's subjects eyes show not only the subjects soul, but also the artists soul. These paintings convey so much emotion, yet they also are filled with mystery.

Nitty Gritty

Fight Club is a cinematic masterpiece--but that's just my opinion. In a movie, I can usually name a single star who stole my heart and made the film a favorite for me. That just isn't so with this movie. I could say that Brad Pitt's performance as the deranged and seductive Tyler Durden captured the epitome of reckless behavior, or that Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singer delightfully took the cake with her dark witty delivery, or I could say that Ed Norton stole the movie with his portrayal of the soft spoken Narrator turned aggressive fighter. The truth is, they were all amazing and there is no conceivable way I could possibly choose just one.

Red, White & Blue

Devoid of all fireworks and friends, in the past 4th of July has been rather gloomy for me. That was definitely not so this year. Lianna and I started off the day at the Palisades parade where we met up with our friend Eunice. From that point on, spontaneity was the game. We met up with some more people as the day progressed and eventually ended up at the Pali stadium where we laughed and talked and watched the fireworks. It was definitely a 4th of July to be remembered.

The King

Elvis Presley's music has been the soundtrack to my life for many, many years. Can't Help Falling In Love may in fact be my favorite song of all time and In the Ghetto still brings a tear to my eye. I believe music should make you feel something, whether its sadness, joy, or an all over sense of calm and a lot of the modern music (i.e. rap and hip hop "music") is devoid of any feeling at all. Elvis has the power to transport me thousands of miles away to a place that is all my own. Though kids my age think its lame to listen to an artist who's time passed so long ago, Elvis Presley has filled a void in my soul.
